I’ve taken advantage of some recent sunny days to do some outside chores. One of which was to repaint our deck table and chairs.

Small Stuff Makeovers – Plastic Frames
With sunnier weather comes the opportunity to paint stuff, and I’ve been looking for small projects and little things to makeover around the house.
Vinegar Finish on Wood
Did you know you can “age” or “stain” wood with vinegar? I just found this out so I’ve tried my hand at it with some unexpected results.
Veggie Bin Makeover
Things have been busy here, so I haven’t had time for some of my bigger projects lately, but I did get to work on a small makeover on a little bin I use to store veggies in. I used a $3 paint sample to give it a different look.
Magnetic Chalkboard
This is a project I did last fall. I found a large bulletin board in a thrift store for $15 and decided it was the right size to turn into a magnetic chalkboard for my kitchen. I wanted a chalkboard because I like how they look, but the idea of being able to hang my son’s drawings and paintings on it was even better, so we’d have a central location for everything right in the kitchen. I really like things that do double duty like that.
A Little Tray Makeover
Perpetual Motion Makeover
My mom is always on the lookout for interesting little gizmos and things for my son when she goes to thrift stores, and her latest find was one of those little Perpetual Motion devices.
Envelope Pillow Cover
Here’s a little pillow makeover I did recently. It’s a very simple sewing project for people like me, who have well, “modest” sewing skills. I basically just made a new pillow cover to slip on over an old pillow using the envelope pillow cover technique. An envelope pillowcase is just one big rectangle of fabric that folds over on itself (like an envelope) with an open slit in the back. This way you can remove it to wash or change it whenever you want. Nothing fancy.
