Chunky Color Block Scarf

I wanted to post at least one more crochet project before the weather starts getting warm. This was one of the first scarves I made when I learned to crochet last year. I’m certainly no expert so it’s pretty easy. If you want to try your hand at something similar, I’ve included a pattern.

I love crocheting with thick, chunky yarn. I used Lion’s Brand “Hometown USA” yarns for this (colors in the pattern download), but any thick yarn would work. When you work with one, you need to get a big hook to use. I used a “P” hook for this. Very fun and it moves quickly. The pink yarn is almost pretty enough to eat!

Good luck if you try this and have fun.

    • Hi Amanda, it probably would work up the same without the button (just work the button hole rows as regular rows), but I think you’d probably want to add a few more rows to it if you left off the button closure, to ensure it would stay on. My scarf measures about 40″ long, not quite long enough to wrap around like a regular scarf. The button is really what holds on this short scarf.

      Hope that answers your question!
